Will my Volusion SEO survive the migration?
Yes. Volusion's URL structure (/p/123/) is mapped to Shopify's /products/slug with 301 redirects. We preserve metadata, migrate sitemaps, and keep your robots.txt rules. Most clients see rankings recover within 4-6 weeks. We've handled Volusion stores with 10,000+ redirects without losing traffic.
How long does a Volusion migration take?
Under 500 SKUs: 3 weeks. 500-5K SKUs: 4 weeks. Volusion data exports are reliable, so the data migration is fast. The theme rebuild and app reconfiguration are the longer parts.
What about Volusion's built-in payment processing?
Volusion Payments doesn't transfer directly to Shopify (different processors). But Shopify Payments offers better rates for most merchants, and you can also use Stripe, PayPal, Authorize.net, or Amazon Pay. Saved customer cards do NOT transfer (PCI compliance) — customers re-enter on first purchase post-migration.
What about Volusion's built-in features (reviews, abandoned cart, etc.)?
Most Volusion built-in features have better Shopify equivalents: built-in reviews → Yotpo or Judge.me, abandoned cart → Shopify's native abandoned checkout + Klaviyo, customer accounts → Shopify accounts. The new tools are usually more capable than Volusion's built-ins.
Is Volusion really declining or am I overreacting?
It's declining. Public Built With data shows Volusion store count down ~40% since 2019. New feature velocity has slowed. The developer community is shrinking. Migrating now while migration tools are well-supported is easier than waiting until the platform sunsets or becomes unsupported.
