Should I migrate to Shopify even though Shift4Shop is now free?

The free Shift4Shop plan requires you to use Shift4 Payments as your processor — that's where they make money. If you're happy with Shift4 Payments, the platform is cheap. If you want flexibility (Stripe, PayPal, Shop Pay, Amazon Pay, multiple processors), Shopify gives you that. Most merchants don't mind paying $39-$2,300/mo for processor freedom and a better ecosystem.

Will my 3dcart SEO transfer?

Yes, with proper redirects. 3dcart uses /product-name-p-123.html style URLs by default; Shopify uses /products/product-name. We map every URL with 301 redirects, preserve metadata, and migrate sitemap. Rankings typically recover in 4-6 weeks.

How long does a 3dcart migration take?

Under 500 SKUs: 3 weeks. 500-5K SKUs: 4 weeks. 3dcart data is well-structured, so the migration itself is fast. The theme rebuild is the longest part.

What about my 3dcart built-in features (CRM, email marketing)?

3dcart's built-in CRM and email marketing are basic. We migrate the data to better Shopify tools: customer data to Shopify + Klaviyo (much better email), CRM notes to Shopify customer notes, segments to Klaviyo lists. You'll have more capability than 3dcart provided.

Can I switch processors when I migrate?

Yes. Moving to Shopify gives you full processor choice: Shopify Payments (native), Stripe, PayPal, Authorize.net, Amazon Pay, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay — all supported. You're not locked into one provider. Most merchants save 0.3-1% on processing fees just by having the option to negotiate.
